BEIRUT: Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam stated on Sunday that his government is actively working through diplomatic channels to secure the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Lebanese territory. During a televised address in Beirut, Salam emphasised that ending the war and restoring stability in the southern border region remain the state's top priorities.
The Prime Minister’s remarks come amid heightened regional tensions following months of cross-border hostilities. Salam noted that Lebanon is committed to securing the return of prisoners and rebuilding villages destroyed by the conflict. He stressed that protecting all of Lebanon can only be achieved through a ‘single, strong, and just state.’
According to government statements, the administration is engaging in ongoing negotiations ahead of planned talks in Washington involving Lebanese, Israeli, and US officials. Salam asserted that the south will not be abandoned and that the government will continue to push for a permanent ceasefire and the full sovereignty of Lebanese lands.
