BUDAPEST: Following the recent legislative elections in Hungary, Peter Magyar has announced the beginning of a ‘new era’ for the nation. His pro-European Union conservative party successfully defeated the nationalist party of Viktor Orban, leading Magyar to call for an immediate shift in governance. He has formally urged President Tamas Sulyok to convene parliament as soon as possible, stressing that the country has no time to waste.
Magyar’s victory speech focused on the urgent need for change, as he characterized the current state of Hungary as being in trouble in every respect. He delivered a harsh critique of the previous leadership, stating that the country has been plundered, looted, betrayed, and ruined. By securing this win, Magyar vows to do everything in his power to ensure this transition marks a definitive turning point, moving the nation away from its indebted past and toward a new political future.
