Ghana footballer dies after robbery attack on team bus

ACCRA: Dominic Frimpong, a 20-year-old forward for Berekum Chelsea FC, has died after sustaining gunshot wounds during an armed robbery on his team’s bus. The Ghana Football Association confirmed the tragedy occurred late Sunday night as the team traveled back from an away fixture.
The attack took place around 10:30 pm in the Ashanti Region of southern Ghana. According to club statements, masked men wielding assault rifles opened fire on the vehicle, forcing players to flee into the nearby bushes for safety. Frimpong was rushed to a hospital but passed away while receiving treatment.
A promising talent on loan from Aduana Stars FC, Frimpong had scored two goals in 13 appearances this year. The Ghana Football Associaion described his death as a ‘huge loss’ to the sport.
