Babar Azam Sets Another PSL Record as Zalmi Cruise to Victory
Babar Azam continues to strengthen his legacy as one of Pakistan’s finest batters, with records consistently following his remarkable career. Known for his consistency and elegant stroke play across formats, Babar has long been a dominant force in franchise cricket, and his latest achievement adds another milestone to his growing list of accolades.
The Pakistan Super League witnessed history during Peshawar Zalmi’s clash against Lahore Qalandars, as Babar became the first player to surpass 4,000 career runs in the tournament. Leading Peshawar Zalmi, he reached the landmark with a steady 43 off 40 balls, hitting three boundaries and a six.
Achieving the feat in his 105th PSL match, Babar now boasts an impressive record that includes 37 half-centuries and two centuries, along with a strike rate of 127.92. While his innings was not the most aggressive, it played a crucial role in anchoring the team’s total.
Zalmi made a strong start with Mohammad Haris providing early momentum before Babar built a key partnership with Kusal Mendis. Mendis led the charge with a fluent 74 off 48 balls, helping the side post a competitive total of 173 for 7, despite a late surge of wickets from Shaheen Afridi.
In response, Lahore Qalandars struggled to gain any momentum as Zalmi’s bowlers dominated proceedings. Sufiyan Muqeem and Michael Bracewell picked up three wickets each, bowling out the opposition for just 97.
The comprehensive victory not only secured crucial points for Peshawar Zalmi but also pushed them to the top of the standings, reinforcing their strong position in the tournament. Meanwhile, Babar’s historic milestone once again highlighted his unmatched consistency in the league.
