KYIV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has issued a stern warning regarding the sustainability of the latest ceasefire, stating that Ukraine will "respond in kind" to any military provocations or breaches. Speaking during a press briefing, Zelensky emphasized that while Ukraine remains committed to a peaceful resolution and the restoration of its territorial integrity, the nation's armed forces are prepared to defend their positions against any renewed aggression.
The President’s remarks follow a series of high-level diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating the long-standing conflict. Zelensky highlighted that for a lasting peace to take hold, all parties involved must strictly adhere to the established protocols. He noted that Ukraine’s willingness to negotiate is not a sign of weakness, and the international community must remain vigilant in monitoring the situation on the ground to ensure accountability.
Furthermore, Zelensky underscored the importance of security guarantees and the continued support of Western allies. He argued that a ceasefire can only be effective if it is accompanied by clear consequences for violations. As the country navigates this fragile diplomatic period, the Ukrainian leadership remains focused on maintaining a robust defense posture while simultaneously pursuing all available avenues for a comprehensive and just peace.
