Tehran: Iran has confirmed the death of Alireza Tangsiri, a senior commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, days after Israel said it had targeted him.
In a statement carried by Tasnim News Agency, the IRGC said Tangsiri died from injuries sustained while “organising forces and strengthening coastal and island defences.”
Despite his absence, the IRGC said its naval forces continued operations and maintained control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
The statement also vowed retaliation, declaring the force would “not rest until the enemy is completely destroyed.”
