Los Angeles: Three people have died after a news helicopter crashed in Los Angeles while its crew was covering a fatal collision involving a bus, authorities said.

The helicopter, operated by Angel City Air for NBC4 and Telemundo 52, crashed in the Chatsworth area shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday. The aircraft caught fire after coming down between commercial buildings, emergency crews said.

Two people aboard the helicopter were killed. They were identified as pilot George Marciniw and aerial reporter Eliana Moreno. A third person on the ground also died, while another person was taken to hospital for treatment.

The helicopter had been in the area covering an earlier crash involving an SUV and a Los Angeles Metro bus. That collision left at least two people dead and six others injured.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the helicopter crash to determine what caused it.
