Washington D.C.: Millions of Americans are expected to take part in nationwide protests on Saturday against Donald Trump, as opposition intensifies over his policies and leadership style.

The demonstrations are being organised under the grassroots ‘No Kings’ movement, which has emerged as one of the most prominent platforms for protest since Trump began his second term in January 2025.

Organisers say more than 3,000 rallies are planned across the country, spanning major cities, suburbs and rural areas. Previous protest days in June and October drew millions of participants, with the latest mobilisation aiming to surpass those numbers.

The protests come amid growing criticism of Trump’s policies, including his use of executive powers, immigration measures, and recent military actions involving Iran alongside Israel.

Opponents have also raised concerns over his stance on climate change, support for fossil fuels, and efforts to roll back diversity and inclusion programmes.

Members of the movement say the latest demonstrations reflect frustration over both domestic and foreign policy decisions. “Since the last time we marched, this administration has dragged us deeper into war,” said a representative of a veterans’ group involved in the protests.

The demonstrations are expected to take place nationwide, from major urban centres to remote areas, including communities in Alaska.

Analysts say the scale of the protests could carry political significance ahead of the upcoming midterm elections, with current approval ratings for Trump hovering around 40 percent.

Minnesota is expected to be a focal point for the rallies, following earlier national attention over immigration enforcement policies in the state.

The protests highlight deep political divisions in the United States, with strong support for Trump among his base matched by equally intense opposition across the country.
