Kyiv: Strikes on Ukrainian cities early Saturday killed three people and wounded at least 13 others, officials said, as fighting between Russia and Ukraine continued.

The attacks targeted Odesa and Kryvyi Rih, damaging residential areas, a maternity hospital and an industrial facility.

In Odesa, one person died in hospital from injuries sustained in overnight strikes, according to local authorities. Eleven others were wounded, including a child. Officials reported damage to apartment blocks, homes and the roof of a maternity hospital, while fires broke out on upper floors of residential buildings.

In Kryvyi Rih, two men were killed and two others injured after a morning strike hit an industrial site, sparking fires, regional authorities said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attacks, calling them ‘pure terror against ordinary civilian life’ and saying there was no military justification.

Meanwhile, on the Russian side, officials reported casualties following a Ukrainian drone attack in the Yaroslavl region, northeast of Moscow. Local authorities said a child was killed and three people injured, with damage reported to residential buildings.

Governor Mikhail Yevrayev said the child died in a private home, while the parents were hospitalised in serious condition. Another woman in a neighbouring house was also injured.

Russia’s Defence Ministry said air defence systems intercepted and destroyed 155 Ukrainian drones overnight across several regions, including around Moscow.

The latest strikes underscore the continued intensity of the conflict despite global focus shifting to tensions in the Middle East.
