Russia To Ban Gasoline Exports From April 1 To Prioritise Domestic Supply

The Russian government has announced a significant ban on gasoline exports effective April 1, a move designed to protect its domestic market from global energy instability.
This decision follows a high-level meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, where officials reviewed the impact of the ongoing conflict in West Asia on international oil and petroleum prices. Although foreign demand for Russian energy remains high, the government is prioritizing internal price stability and supply security.
The export restriction aligns with a direct objective set by President Vladimir Putin to prevent domestic fuel costs from exceeding forecasted levels.
Currently, the Russian Ministry of Energy reports that refining rates remain stable and consistent with previous years, ensuring that local industries have sufficient reserves of both gasoline and diesel.
The ban comes at a time of extreme market turbulence, with international crude prices surging due to regional wars and potential disruptions to major shipping routes like the Strait of Hormuz.
By halting exports, Moscow aims to insulate its citizens and industries from these global price spikes, ensuring that high refinery capacity remains dedicated to meeting domestic demand throughout the spring and summer months.
