Iran Confirms Death of Security Chief Ali Larijani, Announces Funeral

Tehran: Iran has confirmed the death of its national security chief Ali Larijani, marking a major blow to the country’s leadership amid escalating conflict in the region.
State media reported that funeral ceremonies for Larijani will be held in the capital Tehran on Wednesday. The funeral will also honour Gholamreza Soleimani, head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Basij paramilitary force, who was also killed.
Larijani, a key figure in Iran’s political and security establishment, was among the most senior officials killed since the start of the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Israel. His death has intensified tensions and raised concerns over further escalation in the region.
Iranian authorities have condemned the killing and signalled a strong response, with officials warning of retaliation following the loss of top leadership figures.
