Qatar condemns an Iranian attack on buildings in Bahrain
The targeted sites hosted Qatari naval personnel
Manama: The State of Qatar has strongly condemned an Iranian attack targeting buildings in various areas of the Kingdom of Bahrain that house personnel from the Qatari Emiri Naval Forces.
In an official statement, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the strike as a blatant act of aggression and a clear violation of Bahrain’s sovereignty, warning that it poses a direct threat to the kingdom’s security, stability, and the wider region.
The ministry noted that the targeted facilities host Qatari naval personnel participating in the Unified Maritime Operations Center, which operates under the Unified Military Command of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
Qatar reaffirmed its full solidarity with Bahrain in confronting the attack, stressing that targeting facilities hosting forces operating within the framework of joint Gulf cooperation represents a serious escalation that threatens the collective security of GCC member states and undermines the principles of good neighborliness and respect for national sovereignty.
The statement confirmed that all Qatari naval personnel present at the targeted buildings are safe, with no injuries reported. Qatar’s embassy in Bahrain has taken the necessary measures to monitor their situation and ensure their safety, in coordination with Bahraini authorities.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed appreciation for the cooperation and coordination demonstrated by the relevant authorities in Bahrain in responding to the incident and ensuring the safety of those present at the affected sites.
Qatar reiterated its condemnation of all actions that threaten the security of countries in the region and the safety of their facilities, calling for an end to escalation and urging all parties to adhere to international law and the United Nations Charter in order to safeguard regional security and stability and prevent further tensions.
