Saudi Arabia is set to introduce a new low-cost airline operating from King Fahd International Airport in Dammam. This move is part of the country’s larger plan to become a key aviation hub in the region.

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) announced that a group led by UAE’s Air Arabia, together with Kun Investment Holding and Nesma Holding, won the contract to run the new airline. The airline will start with 45 planes, flying to 24 cities within Saudi Arabia and 57 destinations abroad. Its goal is to carry 10 million passengers each year.

This project supports Saudi Arabia’s National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which is an important part of Vision 2030. The strategy aims to diversify the economy and improve the Kingdom’s standing in transport, logistics, and tourism.

The new airline will increase flight options from the Eastern Province, making travel easier and more affordable. It is expected to create over 2,400 direct jobs and raise the quality of air services across the country.

Air Arabia’s involvement highlights its growth in the region and its focus on serving popular but less-covered routes. With this new airline, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam is set to become a major hub for affordable travel, helping Saudi Arabia reach its goal of moving 100 million passengers annually by 2030.
