A Palestinian-American man was beaten to death and another Palestinian was fatally shot in a violent settler attack in the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

The 20-year-old victim, identified as Sayfollah Musallet, died after what officials described as a brutal assault by Israeli settlers in the town of Sinjel, located north of Ramallah. The ministry said Musallet succumbed to severe injuries sustained across his body during the attack.

The Sinjel municipality described the incident as a “barbaric” assault, part of what they say is a pattern of daily violence against Palestinians in the area. Local authorities claim that Israeli forces arrived at the scene during the attack and impeded the efforts of paramedics and volunteers trying to assist the injured.

Musallet, who was born in Tampa, Florida, had reportedly been visiting family in the West Bank since early June. His family said he was protecting their land when the settlers attacked, and they are now calling for an investigation led by the U.S. State Department.

The U.S. State Department confirmed it is aware of the reports of an American citizen's death in the West Bank, but declined to provide further details out of respect for the family’s privacy.

A second man was shot in the chest and killed in the same incident, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Ten more Palestinians were reported wounded.

Palestinian officials have condemned the escalating settler violence and accused Israeli authorities of enabling the expansion of illegal settlements in the occupied territory. The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called for urgent international action to hold perpetrators accountable.

The Israeli military said it is aware of the reports and that the incident is under investigation by the Israeli Security Agency and police.

The West Bank has seen a surge in violence in recent months, with frequent settler attacks, military raids, and clashes contributing to rising tensions and casualties on both sides.
