Bahrain-based international karting star Lewis Smith to go all out for karting title

Bahrain-based international karting star Lewis Smith will this weekend be looking to clinch the X30 Senior category title in the IAME Summer Series 2022, one of the region’s leading karting championships held at the RAK Track in Ras Al Khamiah, UAE.
Lewis, who is being supported by aviation industry giants JBT AeroTech Corporation, will be spearheading a highly talented field of competitors who will be battling it out for pride and bragging rights in the championship’s second and final round, taking place this Saturday and Sunday.
Lewis claimed an impressive victory in the opening event held last month, and will now be aiming for a repeat success en route to securing his division crown. The up-and-coming 16-year-old Briton will once again face some stiff competition around the 1.025-kilometre RAK Track, in which the racing will run anticlockwise.
Following exclusive testing on the Saturday of the round, Sunday will see Qualifying Practice, the Pre-Finals and the Finals take place.
“I’m really excited to get back to racing and hopefully secure another victory,” said an upbeat and confident Lewis. “I’ve been training rigorously between rounds in order to be best prepared for the weekend’s action. I expect things to be even more competitive than the previous meeting, especially after having won the first round; everybody will be looking out for me and I will have a target on my back.

“I hope to make everyone proud and I’m determined to bring the X30 Senior title back home to Bahrain.” The IAME Summer Series is a premier karting championship that is held annually under the umbrella of the IAME Series, with racers coming from all over the world to be a part of the action.
Lewis is one of Bahrain’s top young karters who has been honing his skills in the Kingdom. He regularly competes in national, regional and international championships and continues to excel at all levels.
