BIC 2000cc challenge returns this weekend
The 2015/2016 BIC 2,000cc Challenge resumes Friday with the season’s second of eight rounds at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.
The highly competitive series run by BIC in cooperation with the Circuit Racing Club and Bahrain Motor Federation gives racers a chance to drive in a professionally run championship with minimal costs along the BIC’s 2.55-kilometre inner track.
Action is scheduled to begin at 10.35am with a 30-minute practice session. Qualifying is then set for 11.45am, setting the grid for race one scheduled to flag off at 1.10pm with race two at 2.25pm.
Both sprints will be held over 12 laps. Friday’s second round follows an eventful season-opener held last month.
Alex Longden driving a BMW 3 Series took a well- deserved victory in the year’s first race, finishing 4.408 seconds ahead of runner- up and defending champion Shaikh Hamad bin Isa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa in a Honda Civic, with Shaikh Salman bin Isa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, also driving a Civic, finished in third place.
Following this weekend’s second meeting, round three is slated for December 4 and in the New Year further races will take place on January 8, February 12., March 4, while the final two meetings of the season will be held on April 22 and May 6.
