BOC to organise course in water polo

six-month water polo course is set to take place in Bahrain and organised by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) in cooperation with the Bahrain Swimming Association.

The programme is part of the BOC commitment to conduct the Olympic Solidarity programmes in support of the national sports associations in the Kingdom.

It commences later this month and continues until April next year, with the courses aiming to develop the national sports infrastructure.

Tunisian tactician expert Hazem Al Tijani is currently working on qualifying a group of Bahraini coaches to build a solid foundation of officials in this sport. Water polo is expected to gain popularity in the near future according to the hopeful BOC.

The Olympic Solidarity aims to organise assistance for all the National Olympic Committees, particularly those with the greatest needs, through multi-faceted programmes prioritising athlete development, training of coaches and sports administrators, and promoting the Olymbic ideals.

There are four ways to support the NOCs – World Programmes, Continental Programmes, Olympic Games Subsidies and Complementary Programmes - available through Olympic Solidarity function autonomously and complement one another.

They cover the objectives of the NOCs, which are mainly to improve their functioning and organisational ability; to create or develop efficient structures; to organise training courses at various levels; and to profit from the technical and financial resources available, which turn will benefit their athlets.
