Kobbie Mainoo has signed a new long-term contract with Manchester United, committing his future to the club until 2031 and ending months of uncertainty surrounding his situation.
The 21-year-old midfielder, a product of United’s academy, had been linked with a potential move earlier this season after limited opportunities under former manager Ruben Amorim. A proposed January loan switch to Napoli was ultimately blocked by the club, who made clear their desire to keep him.
Since the departure of Amorim, Mainoo has re-established himself as a key figure under interim boss Michael Carrick, starting almost every league match and showing consistent form in midfield.
Speaking after signing the deal, Mainoo described United as his “home” and expressed his ambition to help the club compete for major honours in the coming years. “This special club means everything to my family,” he said. “I am determined to step up and play my role.”
