Matchday seven of the Nasser Bin Hamad Premier League continues today with two fixtures that could have a major impact on both the title race and the battle at the bottom.
Al Ahli host Bahrain Club at Bahrain National Stadium, kick-off 4:20 PM. The home side sit seventh with eight points from six games, while Bahrain Club remain at the foot of the table with just one win from six matches. Al Ahli come into the match off a 1-1 draw with Al Malkiya, where Baqer Alasfoor’s early strike was cancelled out by Mohammed Salem’s header. Bahrain Club, meanwhile, will take confidence from finally claiming their first points of the season with a stoppage-time winner against A’ali.
Later this evening, Al Shabab face league leaders Al Malkiya at Shaikh Ali Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium, kick-off 7 PM. Al Shabab sit 11th with five points from six games, while Malkiya are level on 12 points with second-placed Al Khaldiya but lead on goal difference, with Muharraq currently in third. A win could see Malkiya extend their advantage over both chasing sides, though Al Khaldiya and Muharraq still have games in hand. The leaders will be encouraged by their resilient 1-1 draw with Al Ahli in week six, which saw them hold firm despite being reduced to ten men early on.
Both fixtures look set for a lively evening, with Al Ahli hoping to close in on the mid-table pack, Al Shabab chasing their first win in nearly a month, and Al Malkiya aiming to cement their place at the top.
