Bahrain National Sports Day was a celebration of fitness, culture, and community, and among the many participants, Baloch Club stood out with a unique display of their sporting heritage. Speaking exclusively to TDT, Abdulwahab Mohammed shared the club’s enthusiasm for showcasing Kapagi, a centuries-old Baloch game that blends athleticism, strategy, and cultural pride.
Kapagi, a traditional sport rooted in Baloch heritage, is as intense as it is fascinating. Players compete in two teams, each required to balance on one leg while using their strength and agility to knock down their opponents. The game, once a staple of Baloch warrior training, demands endurance, core strength, and quick reflexes—making it a perfect fit for a day dedicated to promoting fitness and an active lifestyle.
Culture Meets Competition
As Baloch Club members engaged in Kapagi, spectators were treated to a rare glimpse of an ancient game that has survived generations. "This game requires a high level of fitness," Mohammed explained, emphasizing how it aligns with the spirit of Bahrain National Sports Day. "We're here not just to compete, but to inspire people to stay active and embrace sports in their daily lives."
Beyond the competition, the club's presence was a reminder of Bahrain’s rich cultural diversity and the importance of preserving traditional sports. With energy, passion, and a touch of nostalgia, Baloch Club turned back the clock, proving that some games never lose their thrill.
