First flight to iraq takes off

After a four-year hiatus, the first flight from Bahrain to Iraq has taken off, marking a significant milestone in the resumption of air travel between the two nations.
A delegation of Iraqi officials welcomed Gulf Air flight GF 205 at Najaf Airport today, celebrating the re-establishment of this air link.
The arrival was commemorated with a traditional water salute, a customary practice in the aviation industry.
MP Mamdouh AlSaleh, was among the passengers on the inaugural flight, praised the efficient facilities, procedures, and the warm reception received upon arrival.
He noted the passengers' pleasure with the journey, which lasted approximately an hour and a half.
Gulf Air, Bahrain's national carrier, announced the resumption of its flights to Iraq starting June 1, 2024. The airline will operate four weekly flights to Baghdad and daily flights to Najaf using Airbus aircraft.
The schedule includes departures from Bahrain to Baghdad at 09:40 am on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and daily departures to Najaf at 10:25 am.
