After 286 Days at Sea, USS Abraham Lincoln Docks in Thailand

Laem Chabang: The USS Abraham Lincoln arrived in Laem Chabang port near Thailand's vacation city of Pattaya on Wednesday, capping a record-breaking 286 days at sea. The nuclear-powered carrier carries around 5,000 sailors and Marines.

The carrier had spent the majority of its deployment supporting US military activities in the Middle East, including combat operations during the war with Iran. The unusually protracted deployment generated worries about crew welfare, mental health, and supply constraints.

The five-day stay is mostly meant for rest and recuperation before the carrier returns to the United States. Thai officials stated that no military drills are scheduled for the visit.

Pattaya is expecting a large influx of US servicemen, with local businesses hoping that their spending will boost the tourism-dependent economy. Authorities have also strengthened security and placed limitations on certain activities for visiting military officers.
