Twitter user jailed for slur
The Lower Criminal Court has sentenced a Twitter user to one year in jail for defaming a media personnel. The latter was attacked in Sitra, and the defendant praised the assailants on his Twitter account, tweeting “I kiss every hand participated in breaking the hand of this naturalised, and I pray for god to paralyse his hand.”
He also hurled abuses at him, and made rumours about him that he might be killed in Saudi Arabia while he was covering the Saudi- led military operations against the rebels.
The defendant was arrested after the media personnel filed a complaint against him. The account ßhe was using was initially tracked.
