His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa returned to the Kingdom yesterday after participating in the closing session of the fourth summit of the Arab-South American countries (ASPA).
The two-day summit was held under the chairmanship of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Centre in Riyadh.
“The Arab and South American leaders welcomed the dialogue and cooperation between the two regions to develop a strategic partnership based on the mutual interest and respect,” a joint statement issued at the end of the summit said.
The summit emphasised the understanding of everybody of the important role being played by regional blocs and gatherings and believed in the right of people to live in a stable and prosperous future with no dangers of terrorism, nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction.
The leaders also emphasised the need to achieve a just and comprehensive peace to the Palestinian cause in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative to establish the state of Palestine.
