1,245 building permits issued so far this year on Benayat: minister

Bahrain’s Building Permits Approval system Benayat issued 1,245 permits this year until October, said Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, hailing it as a tremendous achievement in promoting urban and economic development.

The Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture further said that this gets translated to a total area of 864,000 square meters of building area.

“This system is able to significantly speed up the pace of work, as the issuance took just between one to five working days at a rate of 2.26 working days,” the minister said.

Beneficiaries of the system are engineering offices approved by the council for regulating the Practice of Engineering Professions, owners, investors, real estate owners, service providers and government agencies.

“We have thus achieved 100% digitisation for issuing building permit services,” the minister added. Building Permits Application in BENAYAT Portal is basically a GIS (Geographic Information Systems) based web application tightly coupled with the Permits System “Tasareeh”.

The system enables licensed Engineering Offices in Bahrain to apply for building permits, enquire on application status, obtain consultation from concerned government entities regarding building permits, pay building permit-related fees, and other building-related services.

The system allows applicants to obtain all the necessary information to prepare drawings and documents required to apply for a building permit.

The minister further pointed out that this number of licences during the current year reflects the confidence of engineering offices and developers in the system and government’s effort to promote urban and economic development system and government’s effort to promote urban and economic development.
