A total of 19,838 Bahraini citizens have so far been employed in the private sector under the second edition of the National Employment Programme until 14 October.

Labour and Social Development Minister Jamil bin Muhammad Ali Humaidan extended his deep thanks and praise to all companies that contributed to the integration of citizens into the labour market in the Kingdom.

He stressed the importance of providing Bahrainis, particularly the youth, with job opportunities as part of the government’s initiatives to make them the first choice for employment.

The ministry is determined to continue national efforts to increase the pace of employment in light of the Kingdom’s gradual economic recovery from the pandemic.

The programme aims to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of the services provided, as well as invest in the national competencies and develop them professionally, through improving training and adapting its output to the real needs of the labour market so as to make Bahrainis the employees of choice in the private sector.

The National Employment Programme 2.0 also provides incentives aimed at increasing the pace of employment, through increasing the incentives provided to employers and job-seekers.

These include supporting the salaries of the citizens in the private sector, and increasing the support provided by the Unemployment Fund for the unemployed.

Humaidan stressed the ministry’s keenness to develop the systems at private training centres.
