Ninty-three per cent of the cases related to rental disputes were resolved within a month by the rental court, new statistics say.

The statistics by the General Secretariat of the Supreme Judicial Council deals with cases from September 2020 to August 2021.

During this period, rental courts heard 3,676 cases and passed judgements in 3,418 or 93% of the cases.

The number of cases pending in the enforcement courts regarding rental disputes is 104, which will be up for resolution in 48 hours, said the Judicial Council. Law No. (13) of 2020, for amending some provisions of the Real Estate Lease Law, also abolished the Rental Disputes Committee and assigned rental disputes cases to the High Civil Court.

Pursuantly, the Vice-President of the Supreme Judicial Council and the President of the Court of Cassation issued Resolution No. (15) of 2020 to form the courts during the judicial year 2020/2021.

Currently, the Civil Court of the Ninth Circuit is hearing rental disputes related to the Real Estate Lease Law promulgated by Law No. (27) for 2014.
