Bahrain Health Ministry announces criteria for obtaining booster dose

Bahrain Health Ministry has announced the criteria for obtaining the booster dose for those who received two shots of the vaccine and those who recovered from the coronavirus (COVID-19).

It indicated that those who received two doses of the Sinopharm vaccine, aged 18-39 years, are allowed to take the booster dose six months after completing the second dose. They are allowed to take the Pfizer-BioNTech or Sinopharm.

For adults 40 years and above and those who suffer from obesity, immunodeficiency diseases or chronic diseases can take the booster dose one month after taking the second dose.

Those who receive two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech, aged 60 years and over, and those with immunodeficiency diseases can take the booster dose of the same vaccine six months after completing the second shot.

With regard to the AstraZeneca Covishield vaccine, 18-year-olds can take the booster dose of the same vaccine after completing a period of six months since taking the second dose.

The ministry said that those aged 60 years and over and those suffering from immunodeficiency diseases can take the booster dose from the same vaccine or Pfizer-BioNTech.

It also indicated that those who received two doses of the Sputnik vaccine can take the booster dose of the same vaccine after completing six months since the second dose, and it includes adults 18 years and over.

For the recovered, they can take the booster dose according to the protocol for the type of vaccine that was taken before getting infected with the virus, after 12 months from the date of infection.
