BCCI resolve 70% of complaints received during first quarter of 2021

Close to 70% of the total complaints received by the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) during the first quarter of this year have been resolved.

This was confirmed yesterday by the BCCI as it honoured remotely the 13 government agencies and authorities that provided assistance in resolving merchant complaints and responding to all their inquiries.

BCCI Chief Executive Officer Shaker Ibrahim Al Shater stressed the importance of opening channels of communication between the Chamber and relevant authorities in the Kingdom as this constitutes cooperation and joint work between the public and private sectors.

Al Shatter praised the distinguished efforts exerted by representatives of government agencies and bodies in coordinating with the BCCI members’ complaints unit.

He pointed out the importance of their work in facilitating and overcoming difficulties and resolving any outstanding issues in a manner that serves the interests of the private sector and the national economy. On the performance indicators of the Chamber’s members’ complaints unit during the first quarter of 2021, Al Shater said: “The Chamber dealt with 64 complaints and inquiries from 93 members during the first quarter of this year.

Through effective communication with representatives of the relevant authorities, 70% of the complaints were resolved. “On new cases, 9% of them remain in the process of resolving them, while 2% of them were outside the Chamber’s work jurisdiction, and 18% have not been resolved.”

Al Shater added: “21% of the complaints were related to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, 8% were concerned with the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), 4% were related to funding agencies, and 67% were related to various related parties.”

The liaison officers honoured for their quality services come from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Ministry of Interior-Customs Affairs, Ministry of Interior-General Traffic Department, Ministry of Health-Public Health Department, Ministry of Justice and Islamic Affairs, Ministry of Labour and Social Development, Ministry of Transport and Communications, Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, LMRA, Labour Fund Authority (Tamkeen), Electricity and Water Authority, Supreme Council for the Environment, and Bahrain Development Bank.

Professionalism, impartiality and efficiency

Works, Municipality Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf praised the important role played by the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution in developing mechanisms for settling disputes, stressing his confidence in its professionalism, impartiality and efficiency.

Khalaf met remotely with the CEO of the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution, Professor Nassib Ziada, in the presence of the Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Services for Works Affairs, Eng. Kazem Abdullatif, the Assistant Undersecretary for Resources and Information for Municipal Affairs, Muhammad Adel Bouhasan, and the Director Executive Operations Chamber of Bahrain, Ahmed Hussain.

Ziada praised the Ministry’s commitment to involving the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution over the past years to resolve differences and praised its inclusion of clauses in its recent contracts with contractors and companies.

The Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution was established by Decree-Law No. 30 of 2009, amended by Decree-Law No. 64 of 2014, and it carries out its tasks through a partnership with the American Arbitration Association (AAA) in providing solutions related to the rapid and effective settlement of economic, financial and investment disputes.
