Indian Embassy celebrates birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

The Indian Embassy in Bahrain on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, organised a virtual Grand Finale event this Friday. The event with the theme “Relevance of Mahatma Gandhi in Contemporary World”, opened with a rendition of Mahatma Gandhi’s favourite bhajan ‘Vaishnav Jana Toh’ by the students of The Indian School Bahrain.
Ambassador Piyush Srivastava said the Grand Finale event marked the culmination of two-year long celebrations of the Embassy to commemorate 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. He thanked Bahrain for its support in making these events memorable.
Assistant Undersecretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Tawfeeq Ahmed Khalil AlMansoor, Former Labour Minister and Shura Council Member and a Gandhian expert in Bahrain Dr Abdul Nabi AlShoala took part.
Eminent Gandhian Scholar from India and former Director, National Gandhi Museum, Dr Varsha Das spoke on Gandhiji’s ideals and philosophy during the virtual event. Dr Waheeb Essa Alnaser, Vice President, University of Bahrain, and Arun Kumar Sharma, Principal, New Millennium School-DPS, Bahrain took part.
