TDT | Manama

HRH the Prime Minister yesterday called on the international community to adopt “easy and relaxed” stimulus programs to help COVID-19 affected countries achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Developing “strong housing, health and educational infrastructures” are the key to overcoming these challenges, Prince Khalifa told World leaders, citing the Kingdom’s success in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

The pandemic, HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa said, brings to the forefront the need to re-prioritize focus on development to accelerate the recovery of economies around the globe. The call came in HRH Premier’s message to the world on the occasion of World Habitat Day 2020 observed on October 5 every year, which this year has the theme “Housing For All: A better Urban Future”.

COVID-19 pandemic, Prince Khalifa said, has proved to the world that “strong housing, health, and educational infrastructures” are crucial in facing the new challenges. “In Bahrain, we are proud that we put in place urban and housing programs decades ago by diagnosing reality and anticipating the future.” Our works followed the awareness that housing is crucial to ensuring sustainability and providing the citizens a decent living,” the Premier stressed.
