The “We Serve You at Your Home” project launched as in-home services programme for the elderly and people of determination is turning out to be a big success here.  Capital Municipal Council’s Chairman, Saleh Taser Mohammed Tarrada, told AlAyam that the service is gaining positive responses from beneficiaries for the hassle-free services it provides.

“This initiative raised the quality of and speed of municipal services and transactions,” he added.  The initiative, he said, resulted in expediting services and timely delivery of it to the elderly and people of determinations, thanks to efforts of the Ministry of Work Municipal affairs and urban planning.

The service launched earlier this month by the Capital secretariat and three municipalities provide more than 16 services ranging from obtaining building insurance and licenses, housing statements, address cards, address plates, building licenses for than less 50 square meters of the area to the distribution of garbage bags.

The programme allows beneficiaries to book an appointment where a fully equipped vehicle complete with computer and other equipment linked to the municipal system staffed by an employee will reach out to the beneficiary’s residence to complete the service request.

“The home service initiative is based on social responsibility towards the elderly and the persons of determination and eagerness to provide quality services and ensure the satisfaction of beneficiaries,” Shawkia Humaidan, Director General of the Capital Municipality, said during the launch.

“We want the senior citizens and the persons of determination to receive the services they want without having to go to the buildings and apply for them.” In a statement, Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Essam Khalaf praised the efforts of eGovernment authorities in converting municipal services to the virtual platform.

These services, the minister said, are “out of its social responsibility and keenness to provide quality services to the elderly and their families.” “We in the ministry have converted more than 20 municipal services to the virtual platform” in line with vision 2030 and government work program 2019- 2022.

President of the Municipal Council in the Southern Region, Bader Saleh Al-Tamim, told AlAyam that the elderly people have contributed much to the development of the country and it’s now the time for us to give it back. The service, he said, is the realisation of such as effort.

The Conversation of municipal services to electronic platforms is part of an effort to make things easy for citizens, residents, and investors.  In his response, Muharraq Municipal Council Chairman, Ghazi Al-Murbati told Alayam that the service enjoys prime priority of the council.

The service has resulted in expediting service delivery and associated transaction at any time and from anywhere, without the need for further intervention for the elderly and those with determination. Northern municipal council member Abdallah Al Qubaisi viewed the project as an effective way to improve the quality of services provided to the elderly and their families.

He said: “As members municipal councils, we support such endeavours that result in enhancing the quality of life of elderly people in appreciation of their great role in the development of the country.”
