Stockholm, Sweden: Furniture giant Ikea announced price cuts of up to 28 percent on approximately 1,500 products across Europe starting September 1 to attract consumers affected by the rising cost of living.
The price reductions will apply to about 900 products in each market, including iconic models like Billy shelving, Kallax storage solutions, and kitchen equipment. This broader push represents a 1.2 billion euro investment shared between Inter Ikea Group, Ingka Group, and the retailer's other European franchises.
Inter Ikea Group managing director Jakub Jankowski stated that the move reflects a long-term commitment to lowering consumer prices. He confirmed that suppliers will not face cost pressure, as increased sales volume is expected to drive higher production instead.
To maintain price accessibility globally, Ingka Group is also investing an additional 70 million euros to cushion currency and inflationary pressures across markets in Asia and North America.
The Swedish flatpack retailer previously invested between two and three billion euros to reduce prices by 10 percent since 2023, following brief price increases after the pandemic.
