Grand Canyon Flooding Claims 2 Lives; Search Continues for 1 Missing

Arizona: At least two people have died and one remains unaccounted for after a powerful flash flood swept through the Grand Canyon in Arizona on August 29. The rapid flooding brought torrents of water, rocks, and debris across parts of the canyon, trapping visitors in the impacted areas.
Flood destroyed Bright Angel Canyon and the Phantom Ranch region, collapsing multiple footbridges and damaging essential infrastructure, including the park's water pipeline. Authorities conducted rescue and evacuation operations as heavy rain continued to cause problems.
Officials said 82 people were evacuated from the impacted locations, and the search and recovery activities for the missing person are ongoing. Authorities have cautioned that future storms may hinder efforts in the canyon.
