Campaign targets car workshops violating safety rules, regulations

The Northern Governorate has carried out a major inspection campaign in Salmabad, which discovered a large number of violations at many workshops. A task force handled the inspection, which was organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, the Supreme Council for Environment, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism and the Municipality of the Northern Governorate.

The campaign aimed at ensuring the safety requirements to be adhered by workshops, removal of scrap vehicles, and dealing with environmental and traffic violations.  The task force dealt with all violations successfully. Officials explained that the campaign was aimed at ensuring the safety of workers at the workshops as well as the public. “The campaign was a successful one as it successfully dealt with many violations and brought awareness.

The safety of workers and of the public is that we take very seriously,” an official from the governorate said. Meanwhile, the Capital Municipality recently conducted a similar drive as it removed nearly 7,900 road occupancy violations in three months, from July to September 2019. The number was announced by the municipality through its official website and social media accounts.

The municipality pointed out that the drive was carried out by its cleaning department with an aim to ensure the flow of traffic and to preserve the “beauty of the places”.  Removed and confiscated items included posters and abandoned vehicles, construction violations, abandoned and fallen houses, dead animals, vehicle sunshades and iron poles, the municipality added.  The municipality assured that it has been conducting periodic campaigns to monitor and remove the violations.

The municipality noted that the placing of posters and random advertisements or  iron poles and construction waste were a great risk to road users as they cause confusion in the vision of drivers, or faltering by traffic, in addition, to distort the overall appearance of the area. It added that these violations distort private and public properties and cause visual and environmental pollution.
