Deal for training Bahrainis to work for United Nations

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs signed an agreement with the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) on training of Bahrainis to work in the United Nations organisations. The agreement was signed in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs, Dr Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, and the Chief Executive of Tamkeen, Dr Ibrahim Janahi.

The agreement aims to increase Bahrain’s representation in regional and international organisations and to enhance the Kingdom’s presence in the United Nations organisations through the Junior Professional Programme. The Undersecretary for International Affairs expressed pride in signing the agreement, appreciating Tamkeen’s support for the Junior Professional Programme.

He noted that this programme aims to provide young cadres with the opportunity to gain practical experience in many areas including international multilateral cooperation, as well as developing and strengthening capacity-building in the United Nations and other participating agencies. Dr Shaikh Abdullah also affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness to increase the representation of national cadres in various regional and international organisations through working in the various UN offices and agencies.

Tamkeen’s CEO highlighted the importance of this agreement in supporting Bahraini youth and enhancing their skills in the field of regional and international relations, especially in serving the various development goals and programmes. Dr Janahi stated that according to the terms of the agreement, the training will focus on the professional and practical aspect of Bahraini cadres through scientific training in international organisations, and enhance their competitiveness in the international labour market.

He added that this will be done in an integrated training curriculum that allows to provide career opportunities for Bahraini talents to work permanently within those organisations in the fields of economy and sustainable and social development.
