From flab to fab! GPIC honours its employee

Manama

The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) honoured Corporate Communications Department employee Ibrahim Mohamed Al Ali for shedding 45kg in a year.

Ali said he exercised two hours a day for five days a week, which included weight lifting. He praised the club’s qualified trainers for motivating him to reach the ideal weight.

Company President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery complimented Al Ali and said the GPIC management considers employees’ health of great importance and has initiated a programme for all their employees to remain fit.

“As part of the programme, the company works with expert nutritionists and dieticians who provide education and create awareness on how to stay healthy and fit. Special dietary information is passed on to employees to manage their weight,” Dr. Jawahery said.

GPIC President spoke on the importance of maintaining an ideal weight, and stressed the need for a balanced diet. He said such planning keeps an individual disciplined, without which no one can lose weight effectively. He also thanked the company’s health and fitness team as well as the employees for the success of the programme.

Al Ali thanked the company’s management for their encouragement, particularly from Dr. Jawahery.

A recent study has revealed that about 65 per cent of Bahrainis suffer from obesity, with an average weight of 80.33kg. The study was compiled by Family Consultant, Dr. Sumaya Al Jawder and her colleague, Dr. Ali Mohammed Mostapha. The results of the study, which covered 657 Bahrainis and foreigners, were published in the weekly magazine, Huna Al Bahrain.
