UAE’s Eqab wins gold

Nayef Eqab of the United Arab Emirates (1,348 pinfalls, 224.7 average) clinched gold yesterday in the men’s singles of the Seventh Men’s and Third Women’s Arab Bowling Championships at the Ozone Bowling Centre at the Sitra Mall.

Eqab posted a high score of 249 in the six-game competition to boost his average and secure the gold. Coming in second for silver was Kuwait’s Khalid Aldubayyan (1,300, 216.7) with the highest score of 267 and the bronze went to Shaker Ali Hassan of the UAE (1,281, 213.5) and a high score of 228.

The top placed Bahraini was Ahmed Fareed (1,173, 195.5) with a high score of 223 and placed 14th out of 43 bowlers.
