Gates open for another exciting academic year

More than 133,000 students were received by public schools yesterday, on the first working day of the academic year.
The Kingdom’s roads witnessed long tailbacks, which were unusual during the past three months (summer holidays).
However, it did not seem to bother parents, who were seen taking their children to the gates of public schools, with broad smiles.
As part of the Education Ministry’s efforts to attract children towards schools, mascots and cartoon characters were seen welcoming young students at the gates of many schools yesterday.
The ministry also mentioned on its social media sites that it organised some entertainment activities for the students on the first day of the academic year, with an aim to reduce fear towards school in children.
