Bus terminals get new look

BPTC completes refurbishment of main bus terminals Manama, Muharraq and Isa Town

Manama

Bahrain Public Transport Company (BPTC), the new operator of the Kingdom’s modern and fully revamped public bus service, has renovated the main bus terminals in Manama, Muharraq and Isa Town.

All main terminals have undergone a complete overhaul to provide passengers with more comfort and improved information to facilitate their journey.

The renovation of all three stations supports the full implementation of the new bus network that saw a total of 32 routes and new destinations being added to the grid with over 77 per cent coverage of the Kingdom’s inhabited areas.

The stations have all updated routes, destinations, timetables and maps. They have been equipped with key requirements including real-time departure displays, air-conditioned waiting areas, resting areas for the drivers, manned ticket office facilities, information desks, ticket vending machines for both paper tickets and the newly launched GO Cards.

Borja Bermudez, General Manager of Bahrain Public Transport Company, said revitalization is one in a series of the planned upgrades currently in progress to elevate the supporting infrastructure for Bahrain’s new public transport service.

“The move was essential to make waiting times more comfortable and improve passenger convenience. All main terminals are now able to cater to the different passenger requests, whether for network information, assistance or ticket purchases, providing a one-stop solution to public transport users”.

Refurbishment of the main bus terminals is in line with the enhancements currently underway by BPTC in partnership with the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications (MTT) in an effort to elevate the passenger travel experience and provide the people of Bahrain with a modern, efficient and reliable public transport service.
