HRH the Premier highlights Kingdom’s efforts to optimise health services

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa received at Gudaibiya Palace yesterday Director General of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus who is on a visit to Bahrain to participate in the First Gulf Health Insurance Conference and Exhibition. HRH the Premier hailed the WHO Director-General’s visit to Bahrain, expressing keenness to boost cooperation with the international organisation to further upgrade the health sector in Bahrain.

He lauded the efforts of Dr Tedros Adhanom and the WHO in backing the development and health schemes. He also stressed Bahrain’s keenness to contribute positively to any international effort aimed at promoting people’s health. HRH the Prime Minister commended the noble role of the World Health Organisation in ensuring a world free of diseases and epidemics, stressing the need for the international community to support the organisation.

He underlined Bahrain’s keenness to honour its international obligations in the health field, pointing out its ambitious plans to upgrade the health sector and boost people’s health. He stressed the kingdom’s pioneering steps in optimising health services, pointing out Bahrain’s interest in promoting investment in the health field by establishing more modern health facilities that provide top quality services and building highly qualified medical capabilities.

The WHO Director General expressed heartfelt thanks and respect to HRH the Premier, commending his support to the kingdom’s efforts in the health sector. He said Bahrain has become one of the successful models in this field, adding that the WHO is keen to transfer the kingdom’s experience to benefit other countries from it.

Dr Tedros Adhanom commended Bahrain’s keenness to bolster cooperation with the WHO to back the efforts aimed at boosting health worldwide. He emphasised that the kingdom’s pioneering experience in achieving the highest healthcare indices is praise-worthy. He also underlined the dire need to organise more conferences on health issues to raise awareness of the importance of handling health challenges.
