Works Affairs, Kuwait fund review projects’ progress

Manama : Work progress of the projects funded by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development at the roads, sanitary and construction and maintenance sector were reviewed yesterday.

The projects include A’Ali Comprehensive Disability Complex and the $20 Million Comprehensive Social Services Complex in Isa Town. The project contract was signed with the Kuwait Fund in April 2017. Implementation is expected to commence in October 2018.  

Discussions also focused the $19 Million Hamad Town Care Complex, to be funded by the Kuwait Fund. Implementation is expected to commence in October 2018.

This came as Works Affairs Undersecretary of the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning Ahmed Al Khayyat met with a delegation from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development. 

The meeting also highlighted the Agriculture Affairs Building, planned for construction in Hawrat A’Ali. The building comprises of 12 labs specializing in planting, water, soil and tissue. The building is to include all external works and facilities and accommodate 33 vehicles. The BD1,987,870 project tender has recently been awarded. Implementation is to commence soon.

Al Khayyat explained that the meeting is part of the constant follow-up to progress achieved in those projects, which also addresses the possible obstacles facing the projects and refers to financial matters, expenses and the financial flow needed to implement such projects. 

Construction Projects Director Mariam Amin delivered a detailed presentation about a number of projects being implemented as part of the aid provided by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development. 

Roads Assistant Undersecretary Huda Fakhro highlighted in detail the most important roads projects funded by the Kuwait Fund. The projects include the revamp of Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah Highway and the Revamp of Alba & Nuwaidrat Interchanges. 

The meeting also referred to the completion of the causeway leading to North Town, the revamp of Jasra Interchange Project, the revamp of Budaiya Highway and Janabiya Highway, the revamp of Sheikh Isa bin Salman Highway, the Dry Dock Highway Revamp Project and the proposed North Highway Project (parallel to Budaiya Highway). 

Sanitary Engineering Planning & Projects Director Nazha Abu Hindi highlighted the expansion of Tubli Sewage Treatment Plant- Phase 4 (funded by both the Kuwait and Saudi Development Fund) and referred to the consultancy and supervision project for the expansion of Tubi STP (Kuwaiti fund).
