Renewable energy projects hailed
Manama : Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr Abdulhussein Mirza yesterday paid tribute to the wise leadership, stressing his keenness on supporting and encouraging clean energy as part of efforts to achieve sustainable development.
Speaking while receiving United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative Amin El-Sharkawi, the Minister commended the decision of the Cabinet to implement the net energy metering.
El-Sharkawi said the step would fast-track the introduction of renewable energy technology, bolster the role of the private sector to import and install solar power equipment. He also underlined the UN readiness to support the Sustainable Energy Unit and contribute to achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, which, he said, would help Bahrain attract international investments and create jobs.
