Security men in the dock for theft at night
Manama
Two men serving as security officers in a local company will stand on July 26 before the High Criminal Court on charges of theft. The duo have been accused of stealing the handbag of a British woman in Juffair at night on June 13. Aged 31 and 38, the suspects are said to have attacked the woman from behind and snatched her bag containing BD10 and an iPhone. The woman suffered bruises in the incident, but she single-handedly solved the case.
According to court files, her cellphone was having an application designed to give the location of the phone in case it went missing or stolen. She used the application, which guided her to the whereabouts of the mobile phone. It was located in a mobile shop through the application.
"When I met the owner of the shop, I obtained from him the CPR copy of the person, who sold the phone. Then I took it to police," the woman said during interrogation.
The two accused were later apprehended. They admitted to committing the robbery. They also told prosecutors that they had stolen two other bags in the same night. "We were in the bar and we drank an excessive amount beer. When we left we decided to steal bags," one of the suspects revealed.
