Bahrain has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Union of the Comoros to strengthen cooperation in digital government development, knowledge exchange, and digital transformation under Bahrain’s Global Digital Twinning Initiative for eGovernment Excellence.

The agreement was signed between the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) and the National Digital Development Agency (ANADEN) of the Union of the Comoros. The initiative forms part of Bahrain’s efforts to expand international digital partnerships and support countries seeking to enhance their eGovernment capabilities.

The MoU was signed remotely by Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the iGA, on behalf of Bahrain, and Said Moinou Ahmed, Director General of ANADEN, representing the Union of the Comoros.

The partnership aligns with the directives of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology (MCICT), aimed at strengthening bilateral and multilateral digital cooperation with friendly nations.

Al Qaed said the agreement reflects Bahrain’s achievements in eGovernment and digital transformation, highlighting the Kingdom’s growing reputation as a regional and international model in the field. He noted that Bahrain’s global partnership initiatives are based on the principle of sharing expertise and successful experiences to improve government performance and service delivery worldwide.

Under the agreement, Bahrain will support the Union of the Comoros in enhancing its performance in the United Nations eGovernment Development Index (EGDI) while cooperating on the design and implementation of more effective digital government services. The partnership also includes the exchange of technical expertise, advisory support, and capacity-building programmes in eGovernment and digital transformation.

The two sides will further collaborate through official visits, training programmes, workshops, specialised sessions, and the exchange of studies, statistics, and relevant information to promote knowledge-sharing and the adoption of best practices.

Launched by Bahrain in December 2024, the Global Digital Government Twinning Initiative serves as a platform for countries to exchange digital expertise, develop joint projects, and access advisory tools, practical laboratories, and government service simulations. The initiative aims to strengthen government performance and support sustainable digital development worldwide.
