Russian Strikes Kill Across Ukraine, Injure Dozens

Kyiv: At least nine people were killed and dozens injured after Russia launched a large-scale overnight missile and drone attack on several Ukrainian cities, officials said on Tuesday.

Four people were killed and more than 50 injured in Kyiv, while five others died in the central city of Dnipro. Authorities said residential buildings, homes and other civilian sites were damaged in the attacks, with fears that some people remain trapped under rubble in the Ukrainian capital.

Air raid alerts were issued across much of the country as explosions echoed through Kyiv and thick smoke rose over parts of the city. Fires, power outages and damage to infrastructure were also reported.

The latest assault comes amid escalating tensions between the two countries. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had warned of a possible major Russian strike, while Moscow recently pledged "systematic strikes" in response to attacks blamed on Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Russian officials reported a fire at an oil refinery in the Krasnodar region following a drone attack, though no casualties were reported.

The attacks mark the latest wave of violence in the more than three-year-old war, with both sides continuing to exchange long-range strikes.
