AGU Teddy Bear hospital to open

Manama : The Department of Paediatrics at the College of Medicine and Medical Sciences at AGU will launch an awareness campaign for children, named AGU Teddy Bear Hospital. It will take place on Friday from 4 pm to 10 pm at Al Enma Mall in Riffa, and Saturday, December 2, from 10 am to 10 pm.

Chairman of the Department of Paediatrics at AGU, Dr Abdelaziz Elamin, said that the event aims to break children’s fear of doctors, hospitals, medicines and vaccinations by creating a fun environment in which they play the role of the doctor, while the teddy bear is their patient.

“The children will stop by various hospital departments such as first aid, primary care, surgery, vaccination, and radiation. A team of academics, paediatricians, and medical students of paediatrics will guide the children in an educational-entertainment style on how to conduct the required tests on the teddy bears,” Dr Elamin said.

The event will be free of charge for all children between the ages of 4-12. The organising team will provide every participant with a doctor’s uniform and medical equipment required for the tests. They will also distribute gifts to all children participating in the event. All the children have to do is bring along their favourite teddy bear.
