Five tenders worth BD5,102,975 awarded, bids for projects invited

ManamaFive tenders worth BD5,102,975 were awarded in October this year, Works Affairs Undersecretary of the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ahmed Al Khayyat, has said.

The tenders awarded are for roads, sanitary and construction sectors  -  three projects in the construction sector, one in the roads sector and the rest in the sanitary sector, he said. 

He said bids were invited for 11 projects worth BD2,468m, five of which belong to the sanitary sector and the construction sector and one tender only belongs to the roads sector.

The tenders awarded included the construction of a sewerage network in Hunainiya Block 901 in Riffa at the cost of BD350,673. In the roads sector, one tender was awarded for the revamp of Jasra Interchange-Phase 2, at a cost of BD1,637,400.

The construction sector included the award of the BD3 million consultancy services for the design and construction of the Convention & Exhibition Center at the Southern Governorate, which is a leading project aiming to attract and develop the international exhibitions industry. 

The project is to be implemented based on the latest technologies and technical specifications that accommodate the needs of businessmen and investors in the exhibitions field, which would naturally benefit the national economy and further support the country’s development. 

The new center will be constructed over an area of 308,000m2 nearby the Bahrain International Circuit, with an actual construction area of 149,000m2. The center will comprise of 10 exhibition halls with a total area of 95,000m2.

The Undersecretary also referred to the projects for which bids were invited, which included 5 projects in the sanitary sector, all of which relate to Tubli Sewage Treatment Plant. 

However, bids were invited for one tender in the roads sector, covering the time contract for causeways/flyovers maintenance 2018-2019. Bids were also invited for five projects in the construction sector.
