Manama
Two brothers accused of assault pleaded not guilty before the High Criminal Court.
The duo, aged 26 and 28, reportedly attacked another person after he “scared” their mother and “abused” the 28-year-old man's wife. It's alleged they punched and kicked the victim until he fell unconscious.
They later tied him up and left him unattended.
"We lodged a complaint against him because once he came to our apartment and knocked on the door with force, scaring my mother," the 28-year-old man told prosecutors.
"He pledged not to repeat it. But few days later, I saw him holding my wife's hand while she was heading from our building for work. In a fit of anger I assaulted him and my brother also joined me. He wanted to attack us back, but we tied him up with a rope," he added.
However, the 46-year-old victim gave a different version of the story. He claimed that he was just hanging around, breathing fresh air when he was attacked.
"They took me by surprise, and one of them was shouting at me why I was harassing his wife. I was repeatedly swore I didn’t but they didn’t stop," he said in his statement. "Later they left me after tying up my hands," he added.
The defendants were accused of assaulting a man.
