Government to focus on key sectors of economy: Crown Prince

ManamaThe next phase of government development will focus on the Kingdom’s key sectors - tourism, logistics, ICT, manufacturing and financial services – to achieve higher economic growth, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister said yesterday. 

Speaking at the 2017 Government Forum held at Isa Cultural Centre, HRH Crown Prince reaffirmed the government’s commitment to deliver policies that contribute to the Kingdom’s development programme, turn challenges into opportunities, and support a modern, progressive economy, which meets the aspirations of the Kingdom’s citizens.

Terming the Forum the most important government event of the year, HRH Crown Prince said it represents a vital platform to ensure that Bahrain’s citizens remain at the heart of the Kingdom’s development efforts.  

His Royal Highness noted that the core themes of the 2017 Forum – enhancing government collaboration and improving public services – are central elements of the Kingdom’s vision for a sustainable economy which supports the aspirations of Bahrain’s citizens.

His Royal Highness highlighted that government programmes and initiatives are underpinned by Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, the Kingdom’s roadmap for a diversified economy led by His Majesty King Hamad. 

The government’s programmes are generating tangible results, maximising productivity and ensuring high standards of public services, HRH Crown Prince said. Top ministers and government officials exchanged ideas on development at the Forum.

Build on achievements: PM

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa yesterday asked the Government officials to build on achievements made under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. 

Emphasising the government’s commitment to overcoming challenges and driving forward further accomplishments, HRH Prime Minister  stressed the importance of continuing to evaluate the performance and accountability of government to ensure the best use of its capabilities, resources and potential, and to be responsive and adapt to the development needs of the Kingdom’s citizens.

ThePrime Minister   also welcomed the role of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince’s initiatives to develop government efficiency, and noted the importance of the Government Forum in this regard.
